Facts About High Cholesterol

August 30th, 2008

As you probably already know, cholesterol is lipid forms as well as fats that are transported through the bloodstream to help your body perform its proper functions. As a matter of fact, without cholesterol the body would not be able to build cell membranes.

It is only high cholesterol, and more particularly high levels of bad cholesterol that can cause heart risks, which in medical terminology is known as hypercholesterolemia.

Although your liver produces the majority of cholesterol, your body can also get some of its cholesterol through the foods that you consume. If you eat animal foods or saturated fats and even Trans fats, you would risk having high cholesterol levels.
