A woman is considered as being menopausal when she has not had her period for a full year or more, and it usually occurs naturally, most often after the age of forty-five, although this is not always the case. There are several first symptoms of menopause that are usually quite sudden and noticeable, including a change in periods, hot flashes and night sweats, trouble sleeping, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and hair loss.
