By eating fiber rich foods, ample amount of exercise and sufficient fluid intake, you will be less likely to have constipation. Also, review your medications and supplements as some medications and supplements have a hardening effect on stools. These include heart medications, antidepressants, anti-Parkinson’s drugs, antacids, tranquilizers, and iron and calcium supplements.

Constipation and Hemorrhoids - How to Alleviate the Latter to Ease the Discomfort of the Former

If you already have hemorrhoids, you can do the following to alleviate it.

Apply an ice pack, cold compress or a cold witch hazel cream on the hemorrhoids. This reduces swelling and the soreness of the hemorrhoids.
Indulge in a soothing bath. A luxurious bath is a great way to unwind after a long day and it is also good for easing hemorrhoids. You can put ample amount essential calming and healing bath oil or bath salts in the tub. Lavender, chamomile, thyme nad geranium among others are good for baths like this.  Try doing 50 to 100 reps of Kegel exercises daily to enhance blow flow to the hemorrhoid area.  Always try and keep your feet elevated especially when sleeping.   Avoid sitting on hard surfaces. Instead, you can carry with you a fluffy pillow to sit on.   This is actually a radical approach but it works. You can try to push the hemorrhoids back in your anus. Of course, this will depend on the size and severity of the pain. Fully lubricate a finger and gently push the hemorrhoid back. Clench your anus for a few moments and try to contain them in.
