You may be able to substitute almond milk for cow’s milk and soy cheese for dairy cheese and create a dish that is nearly the same as the original.
Your child will probably not be happy when you make changes to his diet. He has comfort foods he loves just like you do. You can expect a few unhappy meals at first and maybe even a few temper tantrums. Just remember it is for your child’s better health.
If your child is older, you can sit him down and explain about food allergies children. If your child is old enough to realize that he feels bad most of the time and certain foods might be the cause, it might be easier to get him to make dietary changes without too much complaining.
Another way to avoid tantrums is to do a gradual change and don’t single out your child’s diet. The gradual approach only works if the Food Allergies Children aren’t life threatening though. A good example of a gradual change is with a dairy allergy. Many children eat cheese on their sandwiches or have a yogurt tube for a snack. Skipping the cheese and giving your child a piece of fruit for a snack are small changes that will reduce the amount of dairy in your child’s diet.
You don’t want to change just your child’s diet because that can make your child resent the rest of the family who can eat junk food. Using our dairy allergy example again, you can substitute rice or almond milk in recipes and make 2 small batches of certain foods, one with cheese the other without cheese.
Improving diet is one way to treat food allergies children. Knowing the common symptoms of food allergies is important, especially if you are a parent.
