What with this the Alkaline Food Chart Business?

April 19th, 2011

It seems somewhat odd that we people are educated in schools, sometimes about useful stuff, and other times about things that will be neither use nor ornament to us as we become adults. Yet despite all this learning, almost all schools are void of an educational program that really teaches us about us.

Sure we have physical education which is a type of compulsory fitness program for students, but why are we not taught about our bodies and how to maintain longevity through healthy lifestyles? We’re told we mustn’t smoke, drink too much, or eat the wrong foods etc, but very little about what we should do instead, or why!

If only we had more information about maintaining and developing the brain and body through food, nutrition, and positive thinking, then perhaps this world we live in would have a bit more balance to it that we do. Learning about foods on the Alkaline Food Chart, and understanding why it’s so important to maintain a healthy pH balance, would probably see less disease, and more ‘at ease’ in societies.

Choosing the Best Alcohol Class for your Health

April 16th, 2011

Often when potential students call asking to take an alcohol awareness class, they aren’t sure the length of course they should enroll in. Our alcohol awareness classes, for example, come in 8 hour, 16 hour and 24 hour lengths. They are also called our Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 classes.

How to choose the right class

If you are a student who is coming because of a specific hour or session alcohol awareness class requirement… let’s say from your work or from a judge, then you should find out from them what the requirement is. That makes your option very easy

But if you are taking an alcohol class that has no specific hour or session requirement or taking the course for a personal reason, then hopefully I can help you select the perfect alcohol class length.

At the very least you should look at a course which is eight hours long. This is the minimum class that will really give you a sufficient comprehension of the issues surrounding alcohol and it’s impact on you, your friends and relatives and society as a whole. A class like this can really cover all the important subjects including:

  • Issues and patterns of alcohol abuse
  • Learning about how alcohol works
  • Learning about how specific drugs work
  • Legal vs. illegal drugs
  • Impact of DUI on you and society
  • Ideas for how to end dependence
  • And many others

Once you begin your study of alcohol awareness, you’ll learn there’s a great deal more to it than just studying about the basics of Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). So an 8 hour alcohol class will give you a pretty good look of all the topics. By the same token it’s mainly a survey of these subjects and won’t give you the full in-depth look that the long classes will.

Sixteen Hour Class – Getting into the Meat of the Matter

With the 16 hour alcohol awareness class you really increase in the depth of the subject matter. There are not more topics, but a deeper study at each topic. Plus there are a lot more examples and case studies. In some sense this class is easier because the examples and stories make the study a lot more relaxing. as an alternative of having to learn subject later on subject in the eight hour format, you can see lots of different examples of each subject matter. For example in our sixteen hour course, we have more personal interviews with the victims of drunk driving, so you can really learn more about the personal effect a DWI has on the community.

Twenty-Four Hour Class

The 24 hour alcohol awareness class goes even further than the 16 hour alcohol class Like the 16 hour course in comparison to the eight hour alcohol class there are more examples, more diagrams and more in-depth understanding of the subject matter. Taking this Level 3 alcohol awareness class means you will really come away with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Sure it’s a big time commitment, but of you’ve had a serious problem with drinking or maybe are a repeat offender, then this is the best course for you.

Still Unsure?

How to Find an Alcohol Awareness Class

March 8th, 2011

Surprisingly, many people have difficulty finding an alcohol class to meet their needs. There are many reasons people might be looking for this sort of class. One reason is that they know they are having issues with drinking alcohol and need some guidance as to how to reduce their consumption. Other people have a requirement which may have been dictated by their employer, school, or even a court order.

Under these frustrating circumstances, surprisingly, you can’t just look in the phonebook for a suitable educational class. There are lots of treatment programs listed (which may work for some people) but rarely are these types of courses easy to find. If you have a court referral often they will give you a partial list, but sometimes you want to be able to have more options.

A great resource is this state alcohol awareness class guide. Using this simple guide, you can just click on your state and see the alcohol class options there. For example if you want to find a California Alcohol Awareness Class, just click on California on the map.

Alcohol Addiction Awareness

February 25th, 2011

The mind is a powerful thing. It can often justify activities which are harmful to our mind and bodies even when we know about the horrible consequences. The Mind of an Addict is one problem that people with drinking problems often face. What this is is a mental state which allows us to drink and justify our drinking even when we know it is causing problems for our health, mind, and relationships with others.

The Mind of an Addict is often inherited from our parents. It’s a genetic issue that compels us to become addicted to self-destructive activities such as drinking or gambling. It’s a constant preoccupation of the thing that you are addicted to, such as your next drink. And once you’re thinking about drinking all the time it’s inevitable that you’re going to have that next drink.

On thing that can be useful to help counter the Mind of an Addict is to take an online alcohol awareness class where you can learn real techniques to help stop yourself from falling into those automatic drinking patterns.

Holistic Schools: Healthcare Education for Today

January 15th, 2011

Over the last few years, alternative and complementary forms of healthcare have gained greater acceptance. Non-traditional healing arts such as acupressure, acupuncture, reflexology, energy healing, and Chinese medicine have gained a significant number of adherents. As a result, holistic schools are becoming an increasingly popular educational choice. Holistic schools meet the demands of students who seek training in natural healing and non-invasive approaches to healthcare.

The educational experience provided by holistic schools is grounded in the belief that body, mind, and spirit form a coherent “whole”. From this perspective, the person who falls ill is more than a set of physical symptoms to be treated. Attention must be given to a much broader range of needs. A person’s social, emotional, and nutritional needs may need to be addressed to maintain health and speed healing.

Because there is such a variety of holistic schools, it is impossible to outline a model curriculum. But, students typically learn a range of information consistent with the broader holistic approach along with specialty training in one or more healing modality. Internships and practical experience may be required in order to complete a particular program of study.

The goal for many students is to become a certified holistic practitioner. Unfortunately, not all schools provide the training and experience necessary to achieve this goal. Prospective students should always check with their holistic school of choice prior to enrollment.

Electronic Cigarettes

December 15th, 2010

Ever since the public became aware about the dangers of smoking a few decades ago, many people have found quitting the tobacco habit hard. Companies have been innovating and manufacturing smoking cessation products for many years now. From nicotine patches to gum, nicotine addicts have been using them to quit their habit.

The patented Electronic Cigarette (also known as e-cigarettes and electric cigarettes) offers to effectively simulate the experience of smoking an actual cigarette, without any of the health or legal issues surrounding traditional cigarettes.

Are you wondering what electronic cigarettes are? Click here for more info.

While electronic cigarettes look, feel and taste much like traditional cigarettes, they function very differently. Users inhale nicotine vapor which looks like smoke without any of the carcinogens found in tobacco smoke which is harmful to the smoker and others around him or her.
