What are the Alternatives to AA? This is a question asked by many problem drinkers who are desperate to put a plug in the jug but are put off by the ‘God’ or ‘Higher Power’ spiritual approach to Alcoholics Anonymous. The AA program tells you that when it comes to alcohol you are completely powerless, and therefore your solution is all about power, and how to find that power. Of course, the power they talk about comes from outside ourselves and not within, and so the focus is around a divine intervention which is there for that taking for all who reach out and ask the lord for help. Poppycock say some, a savior say others, but whatever your views, the bottom line is that AA has saved many alcoholics from a fate worse than death where no other method of recovery has worked. So yes, there are alternatives to AA, but their success rate is abysmal otherwise they’d be well known to problem drinkers.

It is a well known fact that falling sick when on a holiday and on a travel adventure can upset the best laid plans. so if you have a worldwide holiday insurance, there is nothing much to worry about. But despite this knowledge, people tend to take holiday insurance for granted. One couple I knew made this mistake time and again till their luck ran out on them. On one particular trip to the Bermudas, they were diving, when the man met with a serious underwater accident. His wife had to spent every last penny of their cash on hand and even had her folks wire her some more money from home just to cover the hospitalization expenses. Since they had no holiday insurance, none of this money was reimbursable. And today, after almost three years since the accident, they are still paying up the debts they accumulated then.

“Everyone dies, but no one is dead, ” goes the Tibetan saying. It is with these words that Dalai Lama’s ‘Advice on Dying’ takes flight. Using a seventeenth-century poem written by a prominent scholar-practitioner, His Holiness the Dalai Lama draws from a wide range of traditions and beliefs to explore the stages we all go through when we die, which are the very same stages we experience in life when we go to sleep, faint, or reach orgasm (Shakespeare’s ‘little death”).
The stages are described so vividly that we can imagine the process of traveling deeper into the mind, on the ultimate journey of transformation. In this way, His Holiness shows us how to prepare for that time and, in doing so, how to enrich our time on earth, die without fear or upset, and influence the stage between this life and the next so that we may gain the best possible incarnation. As always, the ultimate goal is to advance along the path to enlightenment. Advice on Dying is an essential tool for attaining that eternal bliss.

The type of yoga mat cleaning that is right for you can be determined by the type of mat you have. The material of which your mat is made can help determine which cleaning method is best suited to prolong its life, and give you the best results. The most common material for a yoga mat is thick cotton with a non-slip backing that will stay in place while you practice your positions. Cotton yoga mats can easily be cleaned at home; all you have to do is throw it in the washing machine, or wash it by hand if you have the time; although this is unnecessary in most instances. Either way is fine as according to the care instructions that come on the mat or the packaging. Most of these mats are made for home cleaning with washable fillers in them.

Freedoms Process:Â Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is classified as a physical or psychological dependence on a drug. It can be both. Addiction can occur with drugs as common as aspirin or as insidious as amphetamines, cocaine or heroin. Some people are genetically wired for addiction, while others need several exposures to a substance to become addicted. Very few substances are considered non-addictive, because psychological dependency can occur at any time. For some people, drug addiction is a way of life that will never stop. For others, they have the potential of quitting at any time.Â
Psychological dependency occurs when the user becomes emotionally attached to the substance. Without it, they may feel strong “comfort cravings”, which do not alleviate any pains and provide little, if any physical pleasure.Â

One of the biggest problems faced by people new to meditation is the dizzying variety of different types of meditating there are. Although the benefits of meditation a well known, and many people out there would really like to get a good meditation practice together, often they fail to take even the most rudimentary steps towards establishing a daily habit of meditating. I’ve just discovered this new audio book from the author of The New York Times Bestseller, ‘The Power Of Now’.
In this original audiobook ‘Gateways to Now’, bestselling author Eckhart Tolle continues to teach us how to let go of the past and future to live in the now. Tolle urges to shed our mind-based sense of self, enter the portals of the eternal present, and live vividly in the present moment. He guides us through these gateways: The Gateway of the Inner Body; The gateway of Silence; and The Gateway of Accepting This Moment. By moving through these openings, we will let the power of now transform our lives and achieve spiritual and psychological enlightenment.
The accompanying musical pieces help to meditate and manage to follow what Eckhart Tolle wants to show us. There are more meditation audios for download where I foudn this little gem.

I was a wreck, and I mean that. I’d been working for 60 hours a week for the past year, living in a small flat in New York City, and it was all starting to catch up with me. My blood pressure was skyrocketing, my cholesterol was awful, and I was suffering from heart palpitations. My doctor said that he could give me medicine if I wanted him to, but that it all basically came down to one thing: I needed to learn how to relax, or I would die early. I tried all kinds of things to relax, but nothing worked until I found meditation classes.

When Jed encounters a mysterious homeless girl he thinks holds the key to connecting him to Zeke, it could be his only way to unlock his deepest sorrow and discover how to be on his own.
This is the key part in Tracy Mack’s novel ‘Birdland’ that describes the world of the homeless and sets it in contrast to us others: Amid the sparkle and hum of a New York City winter, Jed and his best friend, Flyer, are filming a documentary of their neighborhood. In the process, Jed confronts painful memories of his older brother, Zeke, a poet who loved jazzman Charlie “Bird” Parker and who died, leaving behind his CDs, a notebook, and a lot of unanswered questions.
This audio book is recommended for young adults. As true and lyrical as a sax solo, Birdland touches down at the core of the human heart and sends it soaring.
